Insertion in an intron of cpo, 38bp upstream of the transcription start site (insertion site is between nucleotides 12297 and 12298 of scaffold AE003720, release 3).
Insertion of 17kb P{lacZ} at position 0 of cpo walk, between putative zeste-binding sites and putative transcription start site.
Insertion of P element at cytological position 90D, into an intron of cpo.
cpoEG1/cpo1 flies have behavioural abnormalities in phototaxis, geotaxis, flight and recovery from ether. The flies are sluggish and show defects in mating vigour. cpoEG1/cpo1 and flies are more sensitive to seizures induced by a high frequency stimulus than wild-type flies; the mean seizure threshold is reduced compared to wild-type flies, to 11.1 +/- 3.7 V. The recovery period following seizure for cpoEG1/cpo1 flies is 83.2 +/- 23.8 seconds, which is considerably longer than the recovery period of wild-type flies. The firing threshold of the giant fiber in cpo1/+ and cpoEG1/cpo1 flies is not significantly different from wild type. The giant fiber-tergotrochanteral muscle (GF-TTM) response is abnormal cpoEG1/cpo1 flies; the wild-type short latency response is replaced by a longer latency response that cannot follow even moderate frequencies of stimulation. However, in response to direct electrical stimulation, the cpoEG1/cpo1 TTM is similar to wild type in latency and following frequency. The giant fiber-dorsal longitudinal muscle (GF-DLM) response in cpoEG1/cpo1 animals is normal in latency but impaired in following frequency. In response to direct electrical stimulation, the cpoEG1/cpo1 DLM is similar to wild type in latency and following frequency.
Behavioural defects in the adult.
