Detailed Description

In mutant clones in the eye the ommatidia appear superficially normal. Rhabdomeres show similar defects to those of crb2, though with lower expressivity - rhabdomeres extend only 70% of their normal length and are confined to the distal part of the retina. Secondary and tertiary pigment cells die, though not until well after eclosion. Rhabdomeres are larger than normal and may touch each other. Photoreceptor cell stalk membrane is 25% shorter than wild type.

Variable phenotype. Some continuous patches of epidermal cuticle.

yrt75 suppresses the zygotic cuticle phenotype of crb2 or crbS87-2 mutant embryos. Defects in junctional integrity and cellular organization of the epidermis are strongly rescued in double mutants compared to crb2 or crbS87-2 mutant embryos.
