Comments

Rescues the embryonic segmentation defect but not the adult wing defect of h mutations. Legs from hcosh; h-/h- adults show a bristle patterning defect that correlates with the expression pattern of h in pupal leg imaginal discs.

hcosh includes all sequences necessary for embryonic function of h by rescuing the segmentation defects. Individuals eclose and adults show normal segmentation pattern. The severe h bristle phenotype cannot be rescued.

Comments

Expression demonstrates that cis-regulatory elements that regulate h expression in imaginal discs, except for those that drive the transverse stripes in the leg, lie outside the h region that is included in hcosh.
