In mei-S3324/mei-S3327 mutants, loss of sister-chromatid cohesion results in male gametes lacking sex chromosomes or containing two sister X chromosomes. Spermatozoa with X and Y chromosome, indicative of meiosis I non-disjunction, occur at low frequency.

Transmission of minichromosomes is decreased in mei-S3327 mutants. Transmission frequencies decline significantly in the derivatives in which core components of the centromere are deleted.

Neuroblasts in mei-S3327/Df(2R)X58-6 mutants show a normal mitotic index but increased anaphase frequency. 17% of prometaphase cells exhibit precocious separation of sister chromatids, compared to 10% in wild-type.

Hemizygous flies show high frequencies of chromosome loss and mis-segregation in both male and female meiosis II.

Precocious sister chromatid separation (PSCS) during anaphase I, resulting almost exclusively in second-division missegregation.

High levels of nondisjunction in males and females.

Defects in sister chromatid cohesion. 20--30% total non-disjunction, hemizygotes exhibited a small increase in total nondisjunction. High frequency of premature separation of sister chromatids in prophase II. Nondisjunction of chromosomes 2 and 3 in males and females.
