Homozygous viable, adults display a mild phenotype: twinning of the anterior scutellar bristles. Trans-heterozygotes with Df(2L)TW161 are semi-lethal: escapers have malformed prothoracic trochanters. Neuronal defects: disruption or deletion of ventral groups of neurons in the trunk region and misrouting of axons towards the head.
Thorax sense organs are found adjacent to the malformed Keilins organs suggesting a partial transformation of the thoracic segments to the labial segment.
