Description

An Hsp70 promoter drives expression of a N minigene (contains genomic and cDNA sequence) that carries a deletion of the entire extracellular domain (the signal peptide, transmembrane domain and intracellular domain are present). This produces an activated form of N.

N^ΔECN.hs blocks SOP formation only in wild type but not nct mutant wing discs.

(Hu et al., 2002)

Heat shock during the third larval instar or early pupal stages causes rough eyes with fused/missing ommatidia, bristle irregularities, and other disruptions indicative of cell death. Heat pulses in the middle to late third instar larvae also result in extra macrochaetae. Wings show thickened veins.
