      sqdix77 escaper females produced oocytes with an AP polarity defect at a 58% penetrance; sqdj4B4/sqdix77 clones show the same phenotype at a 88% penetrance; sqdix77/Df(3R)urd clones show it at a 99% penetrance.

      In sqdix77/sqdix77 females, nurse cell chromosomes fail to disperse after stage 6, but instead arrest in the blob like conformation typical at stage 6 of oogenesis.

      Hemizygotes are semi-lethal. Heterozygotes in combination with sqd1 are female sterile.
