      Structure of the rhabdomere is altered, membrane microvilli that form the rhabdomere are irregular in length and alignment. Defects are enhanced when heterozygous with Df(3R)P-29. Flies raised in the dark have mutant rhabdomeres so the defects are not light induced. The light reception organelle is disorganised but the pathway trigged by light leading to phototaxis is still functioning.
