Amino acid replacement: G485R.
Missense mutation in a putative transmembrane domain. Amino acid replacement: G?R.
Amino acid replacement: G485R. Residue is in the middle of a highly hydrophobic stretch of amino acids that is predicted to be a transmembrane domain, prediction is that residue 485 is in the sixth transmembrane domain.

The mutant residue is in the middle of a highly hydrophobic stretch of amino acids that is predicted to be a sixth transmembrane domain. The position of the mutation on the reference sequence was inferred from Figure 3.
Non-autonomous phenotype in wing clones.
At the restrictive temperature 80% of the dorsal wing surface of hemizygous flies show grossly abnormal polarity. Phenotype is weaker at the permissive temperature. Temperature shift experiments demonstrate the severity of the effect of temperature on hair polarity is cumulative; the larger the fraction of the sensitive period at the restrictive temperature the more severe the phenotype. The cold sensitive period ends prior to the first visible sign of prehair formation.
