9kb genomic EcoRI fragment including the complete 1.9kb grk transcription unit.
Gap between the dorsal appendages is widened.
Transgenic females carrying more than three copies of the grk+t9 P element are sterile. Flies with more than four copies are inviable. Two copies are required to rescue grk3 such that 90% of the embryos have wild type morphology. Two copies in an otherwise wild type background produce a small fraction of partially dorsalized eggs. Four copies in an otherwise wild type background produce a significant fraction of partially dorsalized eggs, and some severely dorsalized eggs. Few of these eggs hatch, and unhatched embryos show partial dorsalization, most evident in the head and thorax.
Completely rescues the maternal effect lethality of grk mutants, generating normal adults.
