Detailed Description

Marker and axonal projection analysis of R7 cells in prosJO1 and mutants indicates partial transformation of R7 photoreceptors cells towards and R8 photoreceptors cell fate.

Clones in the eye cause abnormal R7 morphology and alters the R7 retinotopic map.

Mutant phenotype of lateral chordotonal axons includes: shorter axons or dorsally routed axons.

No outgrowth of motorneuron axons along either the segmental or intersegmental nerve track occurs up to 1.5 hours after they would have exited the CNS in a wild type embryo. Axons from all four clusters of sensory neurons are misrouted. Total number of sensory neurons is normal. The specializations at the tips of the dendrites of neurons with single dendrites is normal in both number and location.

Additional Comments
Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

pntΔ88/pntT6 phenotype (25% ommatidia are missing R7 cells) is dominantly enhanced by prosJO1, leading to roughening of the external eye.
