Expression during embryogenesis has not yet been described. However, when used to drive expression of UAS constructs that are usually lethal when expressed in embryos, animals can be recovered. This suggests there is little or no embryonic expression.
In third instar larva, expression throughout the CNS, but strongest in the outer proliferative center (outer optic anlagen) and the laminar precursor cells; also expressed in imaginal discs. In ovary, from early stages, high levels of expression in most follicle cells.
Expression in the lymph gland is strong and patchy.
