Excision of the P{lacW} insertion and deletion of adjacent genomic DNA.
Homozygotes exhibit loss of growth in the proximal distal axis of the leg and wing. The middle tarsal segments, T2 and T3, are replaced by a single segment that appears to be a fusion of the two. The T1 tarsal segment, the tibia and femur are truncated. The intervein distance is significantly reduced due to a shortened separation between the anterior and posterior crossveins, a reduction in the total number of cells in this region. The external eye shows occasional disordered lens facets and a small number of ommatidia appear fused.
