Detailed Description

Semilethal when heterozygous with Df(2R)17 or Df(2R)27. Viable over Df(2R)12 causing female sterility and maternal phenotypes. Escapers display a variety of adult phenotypes. Eyes display an irregular ommatidial array and photoreceptor cells 3 and 4 are often missing. Wings are shorter with thicker veins and notching along the margin. Legs are distorted. Macrochaetae on the dorsal head and thorax are kinked, branched or missing. Females exhibit rudimentary ovaries.
