Detailed Description

Heterozygous females respond normally to sex peptide (SP; stimulation of the oviposition rate.

Mating or Sex-Peptide (SP) application induces an increase of wild type female's oviposition rate and reduces her receptivity. Homozygous sraA381 females show no increase in their oviposition rate after mating or SP application and receptivity is slightly reduced. No effects on males have been observed. When reared at 28oC homozygous females have few offspring.

Comments

Revertants demonstrate the P{lacW} insertion causes the female sterile phenotype.

Second site lethal mutation is present on the chromosome, removal of the lethal (unidentified recessive lethal, lx, that maps to 3-47.7) generated line A426.
