Reporter expression is observed in all cells of the eye but expression levels vary. Expression levels are reduced just posterior to the morphogenetic furrow and increase again at around columns 2 to 3. Anterior to the morphogenetic furrow, expression levels are higher in the ventral part of the disc compared to the dorsal part and especially high at the dorsal-ventral equator. Posterior to the furrow, expression levels remain constant in undifferentiatled cells but are dynamic in differentiating cells. Levels are high in R3, R4, and R8 nuclei when first identified and low in R2 and R5 cells. Levels are high in R1 and R6 nuclei when first identified around column 6 but decrease from column 8 onwards. Expression levels are high in R7 and cone cell precursors from their appearance in columns 8 and 10, respectively. Levels remain high in R3/R4 and R7 photoreceptor cells and in cone cells but drop in R8 photoreceptor cells.
