aster & meiotic cell cycle | male
Homozygous adults have abnormal bristles. Female fertile in transheterozygous combination with chic13E, chic35A or chic01320. Onion-stage spermatids usually contain a single Nebenkern of larger than normal size, associated with two or more normal-sized nuclei (15.5% of spermatids have 2 nuclei, 61.4% have 4 nuclei). Onion-stage spermatids of chic01320/chic8A males usually contain a single Nebenkern of larger than normal size, associated with two or more normal-sized nuclei (65.0% of spermatids have 4 nuclei). 76.6% of asters show irregular positioning and delayed migration during meiotic divisions in homozygous males.
Precise excision of the P{lacW} element results in reversion of the mutant phenotype.
