Expression of Scrhs.PP using a 50 minute heat shock at 5.5 hours of development results in 72% of first instar larvae having an ectopic T1 beard in thoracic segment T2 and/or T3.
Heat induced expression results in transformation of aristae into tarsi, maxillary palps are not transformed to proboscis. Ectopic expression results in the formation of ectopic T1 beards in T2 and T3. Ectopic coexpression with pbhs.PP or pbQ50K.hs suppresses T1 beard formation in all three thoracic segments. Ectopic coexpression of Scrhs.PP and pbhs.PP at 3 hours AEL does not affect the ectopic salivary gland phenotype caused by ectopic Scr expression alone.
Scrhs.PP has T1 beard | ectopic phenotype, suppressible by Mmus\Hoxa2hs.PP
Scrhs.PP has larval mesothoracic segment phenotype, suppressible by Mmus\Hoxa2hs.PP
Scrhs.PP has larval metathoracic segment phenotype, suppressible by Mmus\Hoxa2hs.PP
Scrhs.PP has larval mesothoracic segment phenotype, suppressible by pbhs.PP
Scrhs.PP has larval metathoracic segment phenotype, suppressible by pbhs.PP
The Scrhs.PP ectopic T1 beard phenotype is suppressed by coexpression of Mmus\Hoxa2hs.PP (41% of larvae have ectopic T1 beards).
