Homozygotes exhibit a moderate Minute phenotype: larval development is prolonged by 22 hours and scutellar bristles shortened by about 20%. Egg production of females is reduced by about 40% and viability is unaffected. Heterozygotes exhibit a 5% reduction in scutellar bristle length. RpS3prv11 in combination with RpS3prv9 exhibits a strong Minute phenotype and in combination with RpS3Plac92 exhibits an extreme/semi-lethal Minute phenotype with a vitality (fraction of hatched eggs appearing as adults) of only 3-5%.
