    Description

FlyBase curator comment: this entry is used to capture phenotypic information when the particular allele (or allele combination) used by the author could not be determined but the context of the experiment suggests that the phenotype being described is some kind of loss of function.

The longitudinal connectives that normally run through the mandibular neuromere are missing or reduced in homozygous embryos. The mandibular commissure is completely absent. The tritocerebral commissure is present and the frontal connectives project normally.

    Reference

M(3)801 shows complete lethality at the restrictive temperature when combined with Dfdunspecified; death occurs at the pharate adult stage and is probably due to lack of eye-antennal disc derivatives. su(f)8/Y ; Dfdunspecified/+ flies are normal at 22oC. At 28oC they have extremely reduced eyes and their maxillary palps are frequently duplicated with mirror image symmetry.
