ato^t3'F.5.8 in combination with ato^t5'eye rescues the photoreceptor R8 phenotype seen in ato¹ flies.

ato^t5'eye or ato^t3'F.5.8 alone fail to rescue the loss of ommatidia seen in ato¹ homozygotes but almost completely rescue ommatidia development in combination.

Flies carrying one or two copies of ato^t5'eye show no rescue of the ato¹ eye phenotype. Flies carrying one or two copies of both ato^t5'eye and ato^t3'F.5.8 show rescue of the ato¹ eye phenotype; flies carrying one copy of each construct typically have eyes containing 40% of the normal number of ommatidia, while flies carrying two copies of each construct have almost wild-type eyes.
