Mutants show defects in destruction of the larval salivary glands, having persistant larval salivary glands at the pupal stage.

Trf2G0039 animals die during the onset of metamorphosis. 85% of larvae pupariate, but 22% arrest development as prepupae and 63% die as pupae. The majority of pupae show defects in head eversion. Puparium are elongated and misshapen and pupae show defects in gas bubble translocation and anterior spiracle eversion.

No Trf2G0039 embryonic lethality is observed.

Trf2G0039 mutants have persistent larval salivary glands, and show defects in larval midgut cell death.
