In the dorsal cluster of embryonic dendrites of mutant embryos, the number of anterior lateral branches is reduced from about 10 to 4 per hemisegment, whereas more branches extend dorsally and appear to contact each other more extensively. The dendrite phenotype is seen in about 90% of embryos. The same phenotype is seen in shot30/shotk03010 embryos. shot30/shot2 embryos exhibit fewer lateral branches. The development of epidermis and muscle patterning appears to be normal.
