Expressing ci5m.UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 leads to misshapen wing discs; cells originating from the wing disc's Dpp-positive domain show an invasive phenotype.
Overexpression of ci5m.Scer\UAS behind the morphogenetic furrow, under the regulation of Scer\GAL4lz-gal4 causes loss of ommatidial bristles (40-50%) and mildly disordered ommatidial packing. The corresponding pupal ommatidia show occasional loss of cone cells (2%), failure of the primary cells to wrap around the equatorial cone cells (12%), and excess lattice cells (38%). Photoreceptor differentiation, assessed by counting rhabdomeres in pupal retinas, is unaffected in these mutants.
When expression is driven in the ovarioles by heat shock invoked Scer\GAL4Act5C.PP expression, massive overproliferation of stalk cells occurs.
Percentage embryonic lethality in lines expressing ciScer\UAS.cPa under the control of various Scer\GAL4 driver lines: 48% (Scer\GAL4e22c driver), 86% (Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 driver) and 36% (Scer\GAL4en-e16E driver). Percentage larval/pupal lethality in lines expressing ciScer\UAS.cPa under the control of Scer\GAL471B : 71%.
