Flies expressing BrdScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-537.4 show defects in the adult peripheral nervous system, including tufting (multiplication) of many head macrochaetae and some notum macrochaetae, frequent doubling or mild tufting of up to a third of notum microchaetae and mild increases in the density of microchaetae. Flies expressing high levels of BrdScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PS show strong defects in ommatidial assembly and organisation, showing substantial ommatidial fusion and lens pitting in the eye. Flies expressing BrdScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF have strongly roughened eyes with defects that include tufting of interommatidial bristles and excess photoreceptors. Expression of BrdScer\UAS.cLa under the control of either Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 or Scer\GAL469B does not appear to alter wing vein fates or the overall integrity of the wing margin, although sensory organ fates in each of these territories are altered.
