Dcp-1DeltaN.GMR eyes show complete loss of ommatidial integrity. 52% of Dcp-1DeltaN.GMR differentiated pupae die.

Dcp-1ΔN.GMR flies have a "spotted" eye phenotype.

Dcp-1ΔN.GMR flies show a small and rough eye phenotype with pigment cell death. When two copies of P{GMR-ΔN-Dcp-1} are present the phenotype becomes stronger. The combination of Dcp-1ΔN.GMR and Dcp-1fl.GMR show an additive effect on the eye phenotype.

Scer\GAL4GMR.PF-mediated expression of P{Sym-UAS-Hsrω} nearly completely restores ommatidial integrity and eye pigmentation of Dcp-1[DeltaN.GMR] eyes. Pupal lethality is also suppressed.

The "spotted" eye phenotype caused by Dcp-1ΔN.GMR is not suppressed by homozygosity for Ice17.

The rough eye phenotype is suppressed by the addition of BacA\p35GMR.PH. The addition of Dcp-1ΔN.GMR to Icefl.GMR or IceΔN.GMR flies has no effect on eye morphology.
