In males expressing trbl^{Scer\UAS.P\T.cMa} under the control of Scer\GAL4^{bam.T:Hsim\VP16}, 63% of germline cysts differentiate prematurely into spermatocytes at the 8-cell stage rather than the 16-cell stage.

Females expressing stg^{Scer\UAS.P\T.cMa} under the control of Scer\GAL4^{nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16} have smaller ovaries than normal with a reduced number of egg chambers per ovariole. Most cysts contain 31 nurse cells and 1 oocyte, but a few contain 30 nurse cells and 2 oocytes. In cysts containing 2 oocytes, both oocytes have 5 ring canals, one ring canal is between the 2 oocytes and they appear equal in terms of morphology and yolk accumulation.
