Detailed Description

Over-expression of pAbpScer\UAS.cSa reduces dendrite branching, and alters dendritic morphology in larval class IV sensory neurons (induced under the control of Scer\GAL4Act.PU). Total dendrite length is significantly reduced in these neurons.

The mean amplitude of miniature postsynaptic currents (mEJCs) at the neuromuscular junction is indistinguishable from wild type in flies expressing pAbpScer\UAS.cSa under the control of Scer\GAL4Mhc.PW. Evoked postsynaptic currents (eEJCs) are significantly larger than in wild-type. The number of junctional boutons per neuromuscular junction is increased compared to wild type.

Expression of pAbpScer\UAS.cSa partially suppresses the visible photoreceptor loss seen when Atx2Scer\UAS.cSa is expressed in differentiated photoreceptor neurons under the control of Scer\GAL4ninaE.PD. On average 5.1 photoreceptors are seen per ommatidium in 18 day old flies, as opposed to the seven seen in wild type. This compares to 2.9 when Atx2Scer\UAS.cSa is expressed alone.

Xenogenetic Interactions
Statement

Expression of pAbpScer\UAS.cSa enhances the eye phenotype seen when Hsap\TARDBPScer\UAS.cEa is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU.

Expression of pAbpScer\UAS.cSa produces an eye phenotype when co-expressed with Hsap\ATXN232Q.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU.

Co-expression of pAbpScer\UAS.cSa and Hsap\ATXN232Q.ΔPAM2.Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU does not induce retinal degeneration.

Expression of pAbpScer\UAS.cSa partially suppresses the photoreceptor loss seen when Hsap\ATXN3tr.Q78.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 is expressed in differentiated photoreceptor neurons under the control of Scer\GAL4ninaE.PD. On average 6.0 visible photoreceptors are seen per ommatidium in 18 day old flies, as opposed to the seven seen in wild type. This compares to 4.2 when Hsap\ATXN3tr.Q78.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 is expressed alone.
