        Poxn70-23 flies feed equally on blue- or red-dyed 5 mM sucrose solution, whereas wild type flies prefer the blue solution. When 40 mM L-canavanine is added to the blue solution, the feeding behaviour of Poxn70-23 flies does not differ, whereas this strongly inhibits intake of the blue solution by wild type flies.

        Poxn70-23/Df(2R)WMG flies exhibit a decrease in trehalose and sucrose consumption.

        Poxn70-23/Df(2R)WMG mutant flies with an intact olfactory system show intermediate benzaldehyde avoidance, whereas surgical removal of olfactory organs abolishes this avoidance.
