      Approximately 30-50% of ommatidia have extra R7 cells in homozygous females. The length of the wing is approximately 80% normal length in homozygous females, and ectopic wing veins are seen. sl7/sl8 and sl8/sl9 females have wing lengths indistinguishable from each other and typical of sl mutant homozygotes. sl8/sl9 females have extra R7 cells in 45.9% of ommatidia. sl7/sl8 females have extra R7 cells in 10.2% of ommatidia.
