The effect of bristle number reduction, as seen in the N55e11/+; tan2/+ transheterozygotes can be alleviated by providing a single copy of tant7. The loss of interocellar bristles observed in Df(1)N-8/+; tan2/+ transheterozygotes can be rescued by a single copy of tant7 from 74.7% to 16.3% of flies exhibiting four or fewer interocellar bristles.

The loss of interocellar bristles observed in Df(1)N-8/+; tan2/+ transheterozygotes can be partially rescued by a single copy of tant7 from 74.7% to 16.3% of flies exhibiting four or fewer interocellar bristles. The loss of interocellar bristles observed in N55e11/+; tan2/+ transheterozygotes can be partially rescued by a single copy of tant7 from 26.7% to 4.1% of flies affected.

Comments

Expression of the tan<up>t7</up> partially rescues the tan2/+, Df(1)N-8/+ and tan2/+, N55e11/+ double mutant bristle phenotypes. The phenotypes are not seen in tan2/+, Df(1)N-8/+ or N55e11/+ single mutant heterozygotes.
