Tracheal dorsal branch fusion occurs normally in leaS4-14/+

Fas2-positive fascicles (including the lateral and medial bundles) often cross the midline in mutant embryos, in contrast to wild type. The formation of longitudinal connectives is reduced. Muscle fibres frequently cross the central nervous system on its dorsal surface (this phenotype is never seen in wild-type embryos). The formation of the peripheral nervous system appears normal. Homozygous embryos have a defective head skeleton and the lateral-graten and H-piece do not form. The dorsal bridge still forms. lea1/leaS4-14 embryos have a defective head skeleton and the H-piece does not form. The dorsal bridge still forms.

One copy of leaS4-14 fails to suppress the dorsal branch fusion phenotype seen in the tracheal system of Sdc2639 homozygous third instar larvae. One copy each of leaS4-14 and Sdc2639 does not produce any dorsal branch fusion defects.

robo1 leaS4-14 double mutant embryos have a head phenotype comparable to that of leaS4-14 single mutants.
