The expression of kay^{pan-Ala.Scer\UAS} under the control of Scer\GAL4^Bx-MS1096 does not result in any obvious size or viability defects in third instar larval wing discs, as compared to controls.

Half of wing discs with wounds in the posterior compartment show normal wound healing when kay^{pan-Ala.Scer\UAS} is overexpressed under the control of Scer\GAL4^en-e16E.

(Bosch et al., 2005)

kay^{pan-Ala.Scer\UAS} when driven by Scer\GAL4^69B, gives rise to a strong thoracic cleft at the dorsal midline. When kay^{pan-Ala.Scer\UAS} is driven by Scer\GAL4^en-e16E, loss of wing vein material is seen.
