Reference

Mutant larvae secrete a pupal case but do not form any adult structures and instead collapse into an oily mass within the pupal case. Clusters of sensillum precursors in the wing disc are expanded. Wing discs are reduced in size as compared to wild-type. Embryos derived from homozygous germ-line clones show N-like lethal hyperplasia of the embryonic central nervous system. A small fraction of these can be rescued by paternally-contributed wild type nct to produce normal adult flies. Somatic clones examined in the adult show N-like phenotypes such as wing notching, wing vein thickening and bald patches on thoracic cuticle.
