The eyes of flies expressing hbsVDRC.cUa under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev display dosage-dependent planar cell polarity (PCP) defects manifesting as symmetrical clusters of the R3-R3 type, ommatidial rotation defects, and occasional loss of photoreceptors. Expression of hbsVDRC.cUa at 29[o]C (presumably due to higher Scer\GAL4 activity) results in stronger PCP defects.

hbs459/+ dominantly enhances the Scer\GAL4hs.2sev>hbsVDRC.cUa-induced planar cell polarity phenotype in the eye.

Expression of hbsVDRC.cUa in the posterior compartment of the wing under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E results in wing notching.

Loss of notal microchaetae is observed when hbsVDRC.cUa is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237.

N55e11/+ strongly enhances the Scer\GAL4hs.2sev>hbsVDRC.cUa-induced eye phenotype. Specifically, N55e11/+, Scer\GAL4hs.2sev>hbsVDRC.cUa eyes display a marked increase in R3-R3 symmetrical clusters compared with Scer\GAL4hs.2sev>hbsVDRC.cUa eyes.

The number of R4-R4 clusters in eyes expressing NΔECN.sev is markedly reduced by co-expression of hbsVDRC.cUa via Scer\GAL4hs.2sev. Notably, even R3-R3 symmetrical clusters, never seen in NΔECN.sev background, are observed in Scer\GAL4hs.2sev>hbsVDRC.cUa, NΔECN.sev.

kuze29-4/+ has no detectable effect on the eye-phenotype resulting from the expression of hbsVDRC.cUa under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev.
