Expression of hbsUAS.cAa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF leads to a large increase in the percentage of R8 cells expressing Rh5 and a modest decrease in Rh3 expressing R7 cells.

When hbsScer\UAS.cAa is driven by Scer\GAL4twi.PB and Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR simultaneously, defects are seen in the somatic and visceral mesoderm. In the somatic mesoderm, a partial fusion block with free myoblasts scattered at several locations. Significant muscle loss is also seen. Founder cells are correctly specified in these embryos, but at later stages, aberrant morphologies are seen in the growing muscles.
