Detailed Description

The body weight of adult wdb14/wdbdw flies is similar to controls.

wdb14/wdbdw larvae have similar fat content and accumulation of lipid droplets in oenocytes compared to controls.

wdbdw/wdb14 transheterozygotes are viable and of normal size and weight.

Overexpression of wdb14 under the control of Scer\GAL4ap-md544 (using the P{EP}wdbEP3559 insertion) results in no cells in the fifth wing cell having a multiple wing hair phenotype. Homozygous wdb14 clones have not been recovered. wdbdw/wdb14 escapers have bald patches on the wing blade where hair formation has either failed or is compromised. The stunted hairs in these regions sometimes have altered polarity.

The reduced body size and weight of CycGHR7 homozygote adults is fully rescued by combination with wdb mutant alleles in a heteroallelic state: the CycGHR7,wdbdw/CycGHR7,wdb14 flies have normal both body size and weight.
