Homozygous roblMB mutant neurons in the third instar larva display abnormal dendritic arborization.
Homozygous mushroom body neuroblast clones generated in newly hatched larvae and examined in the wandering third instar or single cell mushroom body neuron clones show a "spotty axon" phenotype; the mutant cells have periodic swellings along their axons or near the axon terminals. Homozygous mushroom body neuroblast clones examined in adults are mostly composed of γ neurons. Mutant mushroom body neuroblast clones generated in newly hatched larvae and examined in the wandering third instar have a reduced cell number compared to control clones.
