Nonsense suppressor of the wgPE4 mutation.

The lawn of denticles phenotype seen in homozygous wgPE4 embryos at 25oC is suppressed by ElfLR16. This effect is a dominant maternal effect; wgPE4 homozygous embryos laid by a female heterozygous for wgPE4 and ElfLR16 show suppression of the wgPE4 phenotype, whether or not the male parent carries ElfLR16. The wgPE4 phenotype is suppressed more completely in wgPE4 homozygous embryos derived from females carrying both eRF1KY7 and ElfLR16. The cuticle phenotype of wgPE13 homozygous embryos is not suppressed if their female parent is heterozygous for ElfLR16. Embryos derived from females homozygous for wgPE4.Scer\UAS.cCa.T:Ivir\HA1 and heterozygous for ElfLR16 crossed to males homozygous for Scer\GAL4e22c produce excess naked cuticle.
