Embryos expressing jarΔATP.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E results in detachment of cells at the leading edge and the amnioserosa. The actin cable at the leading edge is disrupted in all areas where jarΔATP.Scer\UAS is expressed. In some embryos, cells expressing jarΔATP.Scer\UAS in the lateral epidermis change their shape and the actin filaments at the cells cortex lose their tight organisation. Dorsal closure is not completed in these embryos, resulting in holes in the dorsal midline. Some embryos show folding in of the lateral epidermis in the region of jarΔATP.Scer\UAS expression. In many cases, germband retraction is not completed; the germ band tissue is loose and folded and the posterior spiracles are not formed.

jarΔATP.Scer\UAS; Scer\GAL4mat.αTub67C.T:Hsim\VP16 25% of neuroblasts showing spindle misorientation by 80o-90o in stage 9 embryos (n = 170).
