87% of homozygous mutant animals die during larval stages. the few viable adults that do emerge after a 2 day delay and are smaller and markedly slimmer than controls. They have display a 16% mass reduction compared to controls. Accordingly wing size is reduced by 8% due to a reduction in both cell size and number. The animals have phenotypes mimicking amino acid deprivation. A fusion of storage vesicles is observed in the fat bodies of mutant larvae.
