Construct: A 1.2kb KpnI-HpaI DNA fragment carrying the D.melanogaster ovo promoter region (which includes exons 1a and 1b) is fused at the beginning of exon 2a of ovo to B.oleae Bole\ovo coding sequences starting at exon 2a and not including Bole\ovo exon 2b.

      The dominant female sterility of ovoD2 can be fully or partially rescued by ovo::Bole\ovoODM, depending on the transgenic line used. ovo::Bole\ovoODM generally does not rescue the defects seen in ovoD1rv29 females; only 1 transgenic line out of 4 tested rescues the females to fertility.
