Heterozygous adult eyes have ommatidial clusters with extra R7 cells, occasionally an extra outer photoreceptor is seen. 1-5% of clusters are misrotated. Homozygotes have occasional defects in R cell specification, and up to 20% clusters are misrotated. The extra R7 phenotype is no stronger than seen in heterozygotes. The adult eyes of Ras85D2F4/Ras85De2F transheterozygotes have some clusters that are missing one or more photoreceptors. Misrotation of clusters is not seen.
