Description

Mobilisation of the P{EP}MESR6EP3142 element, resulting in a P{EP} insertion in the 5' UTR of Mkp3, 128bp upstream of the Mkp3 ATG codon, with the P{EP} element inserted such that overexpression from the P{EP} element results in overexpression of Mkp3. The progenitor P{EP}MESR6EP3142 insertion is also still present on the chromosome.

Detailed Description

Overexpression of Mkp32 under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev results in a rough eye phenotype. Mkp31/Mkp32 flies have additional vein material in the wing. R3 and R4 photoreceptor cells are often symmetrically arranged in Mkp31/Mkp32 ommatidia. These symmetrical ommatidia sometimes also contain an extra R7 or extra outer photoreceptor cell. The additional cell always invades the ommatidium between the R3 and R4 cells.

The Mkp31/Mkp32 eye phenotype is almost completely suppressed by rl10a/+. PTP-ERXE-3022 ; Mkp31/Mkp32 pharate adults have ommatidia characteristic of either single mutant.
