Detailed Description
Statement

Expression of sraEY07182 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU results in a mild rough-eye phenotype compared to controls and neurodegeneration of photoreceptor neurons in larval eye disc as well as photoreceptor axon targeting defects in third instar larval brain are observed.

Expression of sraEY07182 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU results in significantly decreased survival rate during development as well as shorter adult life-span of the survivors but has not affect on climbing abilities of the adults compared to controls. Adult flies also display reduced survival rate under oxidative stress conditions compared to controls. The level of cell death is significantly increased in sraEY07182 expressing third instar larval brains as is the number of brain glial cells.

The mild rough-eye phenotype characteristic for flies expressing sraEY07182 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU is suppressed by co-expression of Diap1Scer\UAS.cHa.

Xenogenetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

The severe rough eye phenotype in adults as well as the increased levels of cell death in the larval eye disc observed in flies expressing Hsap\APPAβ42.Scer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU are exacerbated further by co-expression of sraEY07182.

The increased mortality during development as well as the reduced climbing abilities of adults characteristic for flies expressing Hsap\APPAβ42.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU are aggravated further by co-expression of sraEY07182.

The decreased adult life-span observed both in flies expressing sraEY07182 or Hsap\APPAβ42.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU is reduced further when the two transgenes are co-expressed.

The high level of cell death in third instar larval brain as well as the reduced adult survival rate under oxidative stress conditions seen in flies expressing either Hsap\APPAβ42.Scer\UAS or sraEY07182 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU are aggravated further when the two transgenes are expressed simultaneously.

The neurodegeneration of photoreceptor neurons in larval eye disc as well as the photoreceptor axon targeting defects in the brain observed in larvae expressing either Hsap\APPAβ42.Scer\UAS or sraEY07182 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU are significantly enhanced when the two transgenes are co-expressed.

The increased number of glial cells in third instar larval brain observed in larvae expressing either Hsap\APPAβ42.Scer\UAS or sraEY07182 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU does not increase further when Hsap\APPAβ42.Scer\UAS and sraEY07182 are co-expressed.

The increased mortality during development characteristic for adult flies expressing Hsap\APP695.Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU is improved by co-expression of sraEY07182.
