UAS sequences drive expression of E(spl)m8-HLH.
macrochaeta & scutellum, with Scer\GAL4455.2
Expression of E(spl)Scer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4455.2 results in the almost complete loss of the four scutellar microchaeta.
When E(spl)Scer\UAS.cKa is driven by Scer\GAL4455.2, the number of macrochaetae seen on the scutellum is reduced from 4 to an average of about 1. When E(spl)Scer\UAS.cKa is driven by Scer\GAL4sca-537.4 a potent bristle suppression is seen. When E(spl)Scer\UAS.cKa is driven by Scer\GAL4sca-109-68, no reduced eye phenotype is seen.
E(spl)m8-HLHUAS.cKa is not rescued by Scer\GAL4455.2/E(spl)m8-HLHS159D.123-179.CtD.UAS
Co-expression of E(spl)123-179.CtD.Scer\UAS restores 2-3 of the scutellar macrochaeta lost in a Scer\GAL4455.2>E(spl)Scer\UAS.cKa background. Often, socket cells and misshapen macrochaeta are found.
Co-expression of E(spl)S159D.123-179.CtD.Scer\UAS does not restore the scutellar macrochaeta lost in a Scer\GAL4455.2>E(spl)Scer\UAS.cKa background.
