Embryos derived from homozygous eca2 germ-line clones exhibit a weak ventralised phenotype. Homozygotes show reduced survival, eclosing at a rate between 0.1 to 20% of the expected number. Homozygous or hemizygous males show reduced fertility and females lay no eggs, although many developed late oocytes are present in their ovaries which appear morphologically normal. eca2/Df(3R)GB104 animals raised at 19oC exhibit some thickening of the wing veins.
