UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of the serine protease domain of teq (amino acids 1181-1426) fused at the N-terminal end with the Drs signal peptide (Tag:SS(Drs)). The teq sequence contains the amino acid replacement C1295S (the Cys residue is required for the protease/protease prodomain disulfide bond). Encodes an autoactivated form of teq.
Overexpression of TequilaScer\UAS.T:Drs, whether driven by Scer\GAL4da.G32 or Scer\GAL4yolk, does not affect the survival rate of flies when challenged with E.coli, M.luteus or B.bassiana. Additionally, the processes of melanization and coagulation are unaffected.
