Imprecise excision of the P{KZ.TRAP} insertion in aptMY7919. This leaves behind the T:Khc and Ecol\lacZ region of the P{KZ.TRAP} element and leads to deletion of the whole first exon of apt.
Most aptMT287 homozygous mutants are unable to hatch. Homozygous aptMT287 embryos do not exhibit ventral nerve cord shortening, as usually occurs during stage 17. Additionally, aptMT287 homozygous embryos have a defect in head involution. Homozygous aptMT287 mutants have no coordinated muscle contraction. The mutants have electrophysiological defects; synaptic activities are the same in aptMT287 mutants as in aptMY7919 mutants. Some aptMT287 embryos have neuromuscular junctions that are less well-developed than wild-type embryos of the same age. Varicosities in these mutants appear smaller and embedded in the muscle fibre. Postsynaptic specializations are small in diameter, and presynaptic densities are rare and not well formed.
