      The eye discs of LamAri3 and LamAri3/Df(2L)cl-h4 third instar larvae show defective nuclear migration; the nuclei of R-cells are spread throughout the apical/basal axis of the disc, instead of being exclusively apical, as in wild type. In these discs, even though most of the nuclei are basal, the microtubule organising centres are apical. As adults, the eye morphology of these mutants is defective, with misshapen rhabdomeres.
